About EEOR

Long story short . In the middle of constructing the old web  (the original one) site our webmaster and designer vanished with all of the logins and admin information. Ty Wenzel , from Design Shrine Host,  came to the rescue and has donated her time to set us up this new site. It will be a slow process but eventually it will be 100% asap. In the mean time you can find me at Tower 1 Main Beach East Hampton or at 631-680-3000 or eastendoceanrescue@gmail.com.

Dear Ocean Rescue Community,

I’m writing this letter on my 48th birthday.  Just ten years ago we started this non-profit to help ocean rescue efforts and to get more resources for saving lives.  It has survived many setbacks and obstacles. With three children under seven, I and my wife both work full time. I got up many mornings before the sun to make this happen.

We take East End Ocean Rescue non-profit status very seriously.   Our attorney William Fleming who donates his time makes very sure that our “i’s”  are dotted and the “t’s” crossed to help make this foundation possible. I am from a family of lifeguards, my dad was with Fire Island Ocean Rescue back in the 50′s/60′s and I have been with ocean rescue since 1979.  Before that I was a pool and bay lifeguard. I was an American Red Cross swimming and lifesaving instructor.  In college I started my own “Water Babies” program which helped pay for my degree at Ohio University.

I initiated the concept of the East Hampton Town Volunteer Ocean Rescue Squad which was documented in an emergency services magazine article written by EHVPD Captain Michael Tracy. I am still a professional lifeguard in East Hampton Village with a supervisory role.  I am also Jet Ski Ocean Rescue certified.

We of the ocean rescue community put our lives on the line to so recreational bathers live to swim another day. Our East End Ocean Rescue co-president is Sean Daly (see resume below), also a life-long ocean rescue lifeguard, a member of East Hampton Town Ocean Rescue, and a full time  officer in the NYPD Scuba Search and Rescue.  We both have our professional reputations on the line here and are approaching this project carefully and methodically so it is done right.

I am completely aware of the circumstances regarding this project and I will see it thru with passion and respect to the responsibility it requires.

Our mission is to provide this community with the best lifesaving techniques, equipment and educational materials possible. We will do what it takes to decrease response time so residents and vacationers alike can enjoy our world famous beaches in confidence and safety. While focusing on decreasing response time we will also bring awareness to rescue training, water safety, and lifeguard identification.

I want to paint a picture for you so you know we mean business. I have put in countless hours on this project. It is very important to me to Sean, and to the community.  I am 100% confident in William Fleming as our Attorney. I trust he is following correct protocol for this project. We designed EEOR as a private non-profit organization completely free of salaries, ego, politics, layers bureaucracy, and committees. All donations will be deposited in the new Bridgehampton National bank this Friday, March 5th 2010. EEOR is designed to be as transparent as you want it to be with all information and transactions will soon be available one click away on the East End Ocean Rescue website. I also have very email transaction saved for our records and possible review. We encourage your opinions and referrals.

Yours truly,

Jimmy Minardi
